Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor, who is all set to return to the silver screen 4 years after his penultimate day trip ‘Sanju’ with upcoming period actioner ‘Shamshera’, harbors dreams of essaying a badass character.
The actor expressed his desire to do so and talks about his love for the scary boys of Hindi cinema, the massive villains who make the hero big, in the third episode of ‘RK Tapes’, a standalone promotional video series.
The actor listed some of his favorite on-screen villains – the iconic Amjad Khan as Gabbar Singh in ‘Sholay’, Amrish Puri as Mogambo in ‘Mr.’ India’, Sanjay Dutt as Kancha Chinna in ‘Agnipath’, Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji in ‘Padmaavat’ and Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Dar’.
In the video, Ranveer says, “We’ve come face to face with hero forever. “But how can a hero be a hero if there is no villain to show his heroism? I have a dream that as soon as I do a negative act, people will tell their youngsters So Ja, So Ja Nahi To Ranbir Aa Jaega!
He added: “As our cinema evolves, the villains personality too is turning into more and greater complex and interesting. Im searching ahead to the bad guys we are yet to watch, to the actors who will scare us out of our seats and to the villains that will redefine evil.”
‘Shamshera’, which also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt, is directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner YRF.
The trilingual movie hits theaters on July 22 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
