In Arunachal Pradesh, 16 out of 27 districts have been declared malaria-free, marking a significant progress in public health and a significant turning point in the state’s efforts to eradicate the illness, a health department official said. Speaking at the World Malaria Day 2025 celebrations held in Naharlagun on Friday with the theme “Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite,” Health Services deputy director Dr. KT Mulung praised the tireless efforts of medical professionals, community volunteers, and field staff who made the event possible.
NCVBDC’s state program officer, Dr. Mulung, reiterated the department’s objective of doing away with malaria in Arunachal Pradesh by 2027. Tawang, West Kameng, East Kameng, Pakke Kessang, Lower Subansiri, Kra Daadi, Kurung Kumey, Kamle, Upper Subansiri, Dibang Valley, Anjaw, East Siang, Siang, Namsai, Longding, and Lower Dibang Valley are among the districts that are exempt from malaria. Dr. Rikken Rina, the director of Health Services, gave a pledge on malaria during the event, and the participants agreed to keep up the fight against the disease.
