According to ISFR 2023, Arunachal Pradesh has the most forest and tree cover

Arunachal Pradesh is one of the top three states with the most forest and tree cover, according to the India State of Forest Report (ISFR 2023). Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra come after Arunachal. It should be noted that Madhya Pradesh has the largest forest cover (77,073 sq km), whereas Arunachal has the second largest (65,882 sq km). Additionally, he disclosed that more than 75% of the state is covered by forests. The Arunachal chief minister expressed gratitude on his microblogging site X for the work done by the Team Forest Department and other stakeholders to preserve and increase the amount of forest and tree cover.

He said, “I want to express my sincere gratitude to all the stakeholders, especially Team Forest Department, for their coordinated efforts to protect and increase the amount of forest and tree cover, which is so important to keeping ecological balance and sustaining life on Earth. By releasing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide, they serve as organic air filters, reducing the consequences of climate change. In addition, the chief minister of Arunachal urged the state’s citizens to work for “a healthy environment and sustainable development for future generations.”

He also provided information about the numerous resources and advantages that come with preserving natural resources. By being green, we prevent soil erosion, control water cycles, and promote biodiversity by giving many species a place to live,” he stated. In exchange, we receive abundant recreational benefits as well as resources like wood, fruits, and medicinal plants.
