A forest ranger of Kaziranga Park detained by Assam SP

A forester of Kaziranga National Park was detained by Assam Golaghat SP for not being able to secure a elephant safari ticket for the SP’s family. The forester was allegedly abused and arrested for three hours.

According to the sources Assam SP Rajen Singh detained the forester name Tarun Gogoi by Golaghat Police for some time.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took exception to the reported misbehaviour of the Golaghat Superintendent of Police with a forest department employee. He said, “We do not endorse arrogance and it is important for public servants to remain humble.”

Later Gogoi explained the situation, “I told him that it is not possible to deprive any tourist and requested him to pick another date. But he abused me and threatened me with arrest. After some time, a police team came to my residence and took me to the Kohora police station at midnight. I was kept there for around three hours. I was hurt. I had almost decided to resign from my service.”
