Mercedes-Benz, India’s largest German luxury car maker, on Wednesday, launched the second-generation GLC SUV priced at Rs 73.50 lakh for 300 4Matic petrol and Rs 74.50 lakh for 220d 4Matic diesel at pan India showrooms.
Notably, the all-new GLC SUV has already received over 1,500 bookings since bookings opened on July 17.
The GLC competes with BMW X3 (Rs 68.50 lakh-Rs 87.70 lakh), Volvo XC60 (Rs 67.50 lakh), Audi Q5 (Rs 62.35 lakh-Rs 68.22 lakh), Land Rover Discovery Sport (Rs 71.39 lakh) and Le. Rs.67.35 lakhs – Rs.74.24 lakhs).
The GLC is the first Mercedes SUV to receive the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system.
The GLC is available with two engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 258 HP and 400 Nm of torque and a 2.0-litre diesel produces 197 HP and 440 Nm of torque.
Both engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox and both variants get Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel-drive system as standard. Both powertrains feature a 48V mild-hybrid system that adds an extra boost of 23 HP and 200 Nm.
“Today, we launched our best-selling SUV, the much-awaited new GLC for the Indian market. The new GLC is the most advanced GLC with significant product enhancements now standard, making it a highly desirable product,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO. Mercedes-Benz India.
The launch of the GLC at Mercedes-Benz’s boutique luxury MAR 20X showroom in Gurugram’s corporate hub is based on a shift in its retail strategy, offering personalized advice and immersive experience-driven advice, he said.
