200 poor students provided sweaters after a post went viral on social media

Anupama Das a teacher took the initiative to help students from economically backward families who were not able to buy sweaters during the winter season but were forced to come to school in cotton uniforms provided by the government.

Samar Natya Gosthee, a theater group came forward to help them and these poor students.

Over 200 poor students in Assam’s Barpeta districts were provided sweaters on the first day of the new year after a theater group posted a helping hand.

Sitanath Lahkar, general secretary of the theater group, said, “We have very limited financial resources. Hence, we made an appeal on social media and got an overwhelming response from netizens,” he said.

He said that within five days, the group raised enough money to get sweaters for the entire lower primary class.
