20 corruption complaints filed with Mizoram Lokayukta in 2024–25

Mizoram Lokayukta has reported 20 corruption-related complaints for the 2024-2025 period, as outlined in its Sixth Annual Report. Out of these complaints, six have been referred for preliminary inquiry. Since the establishment of the Lokayukta in March 2019, a total of 91 cases have been registered up to January 8, 2026. Of these cases, 58 have been resolved while 33 are still under preliminary inquiry and investigation. During this period, eight preliminary inquiry reports were submitted, leading to the resolution of five cases, with two individuals being convicted in one of the cases.

Lalmalsawma, Chairperson of the Mizoram Lokayukta, presented the Sixth Annual Report covering the fiscal year from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, to General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd), the Governor of Mizoram, in accordance with Section 47 of the Mizoram Lokayukta Act, 2014. The report will be formally presented in the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. In the meeting, the Chairperson, along with Members Lalsanglura and Judicial Member Joel Joseph Denga, briefed the Governor on the Lokayukta’s overall status, key activities, future plans, case management, disciplinary actions, current progress, and anticipated outcomes. The Governor praised their efforts and encouraged them to enhance their work in the future.
