1971 Indo-Pak War Veteran Army Battalion Deployed in Tripura Amid Bangladesh Unrest: CM

In the midst of the uprising in neighbouring Bangladesh, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced that an Army unit that participated in the 1971 Indo-Pak war has been stationed in the northeastern state. Saha stated, “I am sending reports on the ground reality in the wake of happenings in Bangladesh and its possible impact to Delhi,” during a Sunday event hosted by the BJP’s legal cell. The Indian Army battalion that trained Mukti Bahini and took part in the 1971 conflict is currently in the state. Indian Army Mountain Divisions, especially the 20 Mountain Division (XXXIII Corps) and parts of the 8th, 6th, and 4th Mountain Divisions, were instrumental in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) during the 1971 war.
