18 people were killed and 5 others were injured in a car-truck collision in Nadia; West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed condolences

West Bengal Road Accident: According to officials, the car crashed with a truck loaded with stones on the side of the road at Phulbari in Hanskhali police station area in Nadia.

At least 18 people have been killed and five others were injured when a matador car crashed with a truck in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Saturday night, according to officials, who added that the accident was caused by “thick fog and the vehicle’s fast speed.”

Meanwhile, West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has expressed his grief over the incident and has asked Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC) government to provide immediate assistance to those injured in the accident.

PM Modi later expressed his sorrow over the deaths and announced an ex-gratia pay of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those who died. “Accidents are exceedingly painful in Jalpaiguri. Prayers for the grieving family during this difficult time. Wishing the injured a speedy recovery. Ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakhs apiece to be paid by PMNRF to the families of those who died.
